I feel like dancing and shout and celebrating.
We made it. Barely. But we did.
Winter solstice is here, which means, as of tomorrow, the days are getting longer and spring is just around the corner.
It has been a long haul this year. So much is wonderful, but there has been endless effort to make the days continue to tick by.
It has been a year of waiting, and planning, and preparing.
And you know what?
I am exhausted.
But to know that every day from here forward will allow a little more sunshine into our lives, well that is slap-dang fantabulous.
To know that the steep climb through winter is over, and now we get to coast the rest of the way down the hill through to spring, makes me able to breathe again.
Soon I will tell you more about the challenges we faced this year, but for now I will just smile, and sit back and know that we are through the worst of it.
December 21st.
Normally it doesn’t make a huge impression on me, but this year I am grateful to have something to mark this moment, and allow a little more light to creep into our day.
So raise a glass, dance around a bonfire, or do whatever you love to do and celebrate with me.
Because tomorrow really is a new day, and a day with more sunshine than today had!
