It has been a fast week, a very fast week. And time is ticking. On tuesday I am off to San Francisco with 3 fabulous ladies, and then onwards to San Jose for Blogher 14.
But right now, every moment is filled with finishing work, loving kids, and prepping the family for my departure.
Summer is short, and even though the days are long they burn by fast. Filling it full of fun, for me and the kids, is hard when there is so much you need to squeeze into everyday. Making time for enjoying summer, can be challenging.
But today I closed the laptop, stopped worrying about packing, didn’t think about “what I could stash in the freezer” while I am away and I slipped on my bikini and joined my family at the lake.
I shut off the phone and I lay back, closed my eyes and listened to summer.
Splashing, laughter and great sounds. A cool breeze and then diving into the fresh lake water.
It is moments like this that remind you that balance isn’t boring, it is necessary. We get into habits, routines, that define our days and fill our hours. Breaking these routines, these habits, is healthy and vital for us to continue to embrace and enjoy ALL the moments of our life.
Less than a week, and a mounting pile of work to do, but taking a moment to STOP and just enjoy was what I needed today.
and getting some sunshine on my skin, and some fresh air in my lungs helped to recharge me the way nothing else can.
Except maybe hanging with the chickens . . .
