Every morning I take my two girlies to school. Every afternoon I pick them up. It is what I have always done and it is what I am used to! I love the little moments of social time with the other parents on the playground, and I love letting my kids get an extra few minutes of play in before we head home.
When I picked my kids up yesterday I was thrilled to see them playing a game of tag on the playground. All the kids were running, screeching, and laughing. I stood there smiling at, not only the activity, but the fact that my girls were involved in the group. Finally, they seem to be `IN` the group!
Moments later a horn blasts and all, but my girls, run to the school buses. And there there were, standing alone and suddenly without a pack.
It kind of made my heart lurch. With 80% of the school kids riding the buses, I am wondering if we should submit to the majority vote on the island and throw the kids on the bus. . . and while they may get some cool bus time, they will miss that ever-important (to me & them) playground time.
It is just a different culture I am needing to adapt to. I find that (yes like me) the Islanders seem to be more introverted. I just don`t know if doing the whole bus thing will create the opportunities we need to get to know the parents (and then build up the playdates)
Alas. . . what a problem to be having.
Let`s add it to the list of finding a `forever` home, building businesses and using up all those left over bananas!
Talk about first world problems!
