A few days ago I was on a low.
Taking action I posted an ad in the local online rag for a running buddy.
I woke up to answers. I had a few emails of eager runners looking for a buddy. It seems we are not the only people on this island looking for a tribe.
With summer behind us, school in the works and the tourists back at home it seems people are starting to come out of the woodwork.
We are also getting our confidence back as we get a better feel for the community. We are raising our heads a little higher and acting more confident as we are getting familiar with the island.
Hubby came home from soccer today and had his list of new islanders… families full of courage who have also made this leap over the summer. And as we are asked day in and day out by every new person we meet, he asks them as well “what brings you here”
And as I expected, most of these families are looking for exactly the same thing we are. Whether they come from England, Denmark, Germany, or Vancouver… they are all looking for a simpler life.
And much like us, they are having difficulty meeting people and building relationships. So, as I look for a tribe, I will continue to look for opportunities of building my own. We are excited to see what new relationships come, and feel confident that we are meeting others who are explorers and hold some of the same family values we hold.
And my hubby has promised that the next time someone asks him what brought him to the island, he is going to respond “The ferry”
Super funny eh.
