Winter, living rural can be a bit tricky.  Early nights, no cable and all of us squeezed into a small home with one bathroom can cause some . . . friction.

Not to mention the fact that one of those people is a 4yr old boy.

They tend to cause friction in even the most agreeable circumstances.

So, we get stuck on just WHAT to do as a family to keep the kids entertained, and not drive mom and dad up the wall, especially with darkness creeping in and a goal not to overuse the electronics.

We have a stack of books and games upstairs, but it just hasn’t worked for us in the past (probably because of that 4yr old) . . .  until recently.

We participated in the Mattel GAME ON Gameology test ( I am a sociales, of course) and were able to test drive some great games from Mattel.

SOCIALES: For the Socialies, games are an event where winning comes second to making sure everyone has a good time. Their moves are unpredictable but in the end they get there. They are unorthodox players and yet against all odds, luck often finds them. This can be infuriating to other players, but Socialies have a way with words and can be counted on to make game night a great night.

And to find a game that entertains the WHOLE FAMILY, even Dad, is a challenge.  Luckily the kids are ALL Angry Birds fans, and the Angry Birds Space was included in our package of awesome Mattel games.

It was just as fun to set up as it is to play so we didn’t lose the kids (especially little short attention span above) before the game and even begun.

And seriously, what is better than flinging a big green bird at mom?

It was perfect for hands, big or small and balanced out the skill level of the adults and the kids so everyone had a fair shot.

In fact, the middle kid ended up being the winner of the game in the end. . . and that is pretty awesome.

And the greatest part?  The little one woke up this morning, running straight to the game table begging for us to set it up and play again.  (and thankfully we can since no pieces were lost!)
