It is a little dude at home day, and with Hubby off to work, that means this mama is either going to need to submit, or spend the day battling the multitasking of a WAHM.
Every week it is a struggle.
The weekly script of “just give mommy one more minute” or “we can play right after I finish this” or even better “grab yourself a treat & lets watch a show”
Except today, the sun shone.
Middle of November and the sun is shining brightly and the day is warm. The dogs are pacing the floors and the dude is bursting with energy.
So this mama slaps on her gumboots and we trek on down to the shore.
And the sun WAS shining and warm. And the view spectacular. The dogs swam, the boy played and I soaked up sunshine.
And we climbed and explored and enjoyed the day. We had snacks and we even laughed a little bit.
And then we came home. And after having a dose of mom time, and a few hours to burn off his energy, my little dude happily played while I went through email and work assignments.
With one little change, and a heavy dose of sunshine, we turned the day from frustration to enjoyment. We each had our needs met… and I think there might even be time to bake some cookies before the girls come home from school. THIS is how balancing work and kids actually happens. A little bit of compromise, and being able to enjoy a sunny day in November.
