I am not a “fancy” kind of gal.
What that means, is dressing up takes about 8 minutes longer than not dressing up does. I am low maintenance in a big, big way.
I have a simple hair cut, and use simple makeup to get things pretty (or prettier?) I have a pretty short attention span anyway, so taking anything more than a few minutes to apply makeup has me wanting to poke my eye out.
But my kids. Oh my goodness. They want to have Hairstyles, and do make-up trials and fashion shows and all the rest.
Even the dude, yes.
And nail polish. They would collect and display nail polish like it was fine art. Arranged by colour, and brand, or even season, if they could.
And so when a little box of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish arrived at my door, the kids grabbed it before I had a chance to hide it.
The look of glee on my dudes face when he saw the colours was priceless. A purple so dark he thought it was black and a crisp, bright and bold red!
I tried to convince him to stick with the light blue. . . but alas, we had to explore the range of options, layering and testing out colour combinations.
And then big sis jumped in on the action and it was polish for all.
Thankfully it dried pretty quickly so the kids were able to run about and play soon after I applied it!
It is still going strong a few days later with no chipping, and so the kids are happy!
And maybe this will encourage me to spend a little more time feeling pretty?
