Valentines Day. The day of love and celebration and showering our people with candy hearts and gushy cards.
Or is it?
I feel love in the air right now, it may be because we have the courage to tell people what we feel on a day like Valentines Day, or perhaps it is just the right time to start spilling our happiness.
But happiness is being spilled. All over the internet, the twitter stream and Facebook pages. The digital world is pink and sparkly and full of love.
And that is a wonderful thing.
Because when we allow ourselves to share our love, and our happiness, it grows. Our happiness grows, and the happiness in the people around us grows.
And it makes me wonder. Why don’t we do it more?
When was the last time you shared something positive and insignificant with someone? Gave a compliment when it wasn’t expected, or even needed?
Gave accolades.
So, as much as we will shower our loved ones today, lets let that love mist over the rest of our world too. Lets challenge ourselves to share those flittering thoughts that dance through our head with the people around us.
The gal with the great hair at the bus stop. The shop clerk who is glowing and smiley and cheerful. The mom in the grocery store who’s child has amazing behaviour. All of it, any of it.
Because we do have these happy thoughts about people, and unfortunately we are much better at sharing the negative.
So I challenge, nay, I DARE you. Share some happiness today. Have the courage to reach out digitally, or in real life and share some accolades with the people and organizations who touch your life.
And, as a second part, and this will be the hardest part. . .
Accept the accolades and compliments that come TO you from others. Allow them to soak in and fill your soul. Allow your confidence to appreciate them and acknowledge in yourself your genius, your strength and your greatness.
Help me share the love this Valentines day . . . everywhere. And, please, let me know when you do! I will help you #sharethelove
