There is nothing about my body that is perfect, and that is okay by me. I am completely human, and utterly flawed. As a almost forty (egads) year old mother of three, my body has been through a lot.
Three pregnancies (which really means 3 pretty hearty weight gains for this gal) and a decade of worry. A lot of mistakes, in life, and in my actions that created scars, stress, and damage, mostly to my body and not my soul, thank goodness.
And I am not alone. Each of us go though different experiences that cause stress to our bodies, and souls in unique and specific ways.
The lathering of baby oil when we are 15 and sitting on the house roof? The “not so clean” eating of our college days, since that was sometimes all the budget could afford.
But, this is it, the skin I am in, and the skin I will love and cherish.
And hopefully help, when it needs help.
With April being Rosacea Awareness Month, I think it is time we Unmasked our Red Skin. Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory and embarrassing skin condition, rosacea, currently affects over two million Canadians. Rosacea Awareness Month is dedicated to shedding light on this condition, which has no known cure and where the underlying cause is yet unknown. And not only does Rosacea affect people physically, but also emotionally. It is hard to feel comfortable in your skin when it is red and irritated.
Because no matter how “human” my skin is, it is my comfort IN it that matters!
The #nomakeupselfie trend is unmasking women, and pushing levels of confidence. Imagine if your skin was naturally irritated, red or inflamed? How confident would you be “unmasking” for all?
