School is out, early for those of us in BC do to the escalating job action, but out none the less. Bedtimes are a thing of the past and summer is “officially” here.
Which means later nights, longer, lazy mornings and more time to capture little moments with the family.
Tonights moon is a full one, and with clear skies over head we are hoping to enjoy it in a new and more intimate way. We love the science gear from Nancy B and the kids were really excited to check out the Moonscope as the summer nights approached. The science journal is packed with facts that make “looking” at the moon and stars an amazing experience.
Of course the VERY best part of having a moonscope is staying up late enough to use it. This means campfires, marshmallows and lots of late evening snuggles as we wait for the stars to “turn on” (as my 4 year old says) so we can see them.
The Nancy B moonscope was easy to use for the kids and came with multiple lenses for different distances. We were even able to look at the trees across the channel from us (which was pretty cool for the dude)
It took a few tries to get the knack of focussing it, but in the end it gave the kids a great opportunity to see the skies around them.
And eat marshmallows on a weeknight!
