There have been moments in my relationship where I have been drowning. Three kids, chaos and complete exhaustion. I remember many a moment with my hubby asking my “what is wrong’ and me, only able to say “I am tired. So tired”
I was tired of trying. I was tired of thinking. Tired of being awake. Tired of making lunches, going to parks, being creative.
Tired of having conversations.
Tired of having . . . well, tired of doing anything at bedtime that didn’t include sleep.
Fifteen years. And we made it through.
Our kids are 10, 8 and 4 and I am no longer tired.
The only thing keeping me awake at night is my Facebook feed. . . or perhaps a new netflix release. I embrace conversations with my husband, and I have time to play and engage the kids.
Through all the rough patches both hubby and I knew that the basis to our relationship was having time to connect.
We needed to talk. We needed to be quiet and removed from the kids. We needed to get all that “STUFF” of our minds and out of our heads before we could move onto anything else.
I laughingly joke that our hot tub saved our marriage, but it is desperately true. We would spend ours out there in the dark while our spawn beautiful children dozed and we would talk.
There was an intimacy to that space that allowed us to have passionate conversations and have time to rebuild our relationship and re-ignite the spark!
or flame. Or fires of desires.
Whatever you want to call it.
Now, granted, what we did worked but I am thinking that hubby may have preferred this. . .
Just watching the trailer had us laughing and saying “OMG, could you even IMAGINE?” We are a private couple and this would be our worst nightmare!
But boy did we ever laugh.
