You know that moment you wake up and say to your partner “we should totally renovate the bathroom” And then he thinks it is a great idea as well.
So you plan it and figure “Gosh, we should be able to get it done while the kids are away at the Grandparents”
And you smile on that first hammer swing, and even the 2nd.
And as that first week disintegrates into the second, and then the third and somehow you are in a month long reno of a stinking bathroom and you aren’t sure what happened.
This has been our last 4 weeks. Toss in there a few sick chickens, visitors and one “Flu” for mommy, oh and a TWO wonderfully successful businesses that just keep on delivering and we have a problem.
We are losing days and weeks to this reno and our fabulous kids are taking up the slack. It was time to take a break.
So, we hit the local.
Beach of course.
A few hours of play, and sunshine and a take out pizza was exactly what we needed to enjoy a few moments together in the middle of our chaos.
Our kids are fabulously independent and self-sufficient and totally understand mom and dad and the goal of home reno’s, but that doesn’t change the fact that they still need US.
And we need them. And normalcy.
We need to remind ourselves to stop and enjoy these moments when we can, and we also need to get the house safe and healthy for our family to enjoy for years to come and most importantly we need to find that spot to sit right in the middle (or perhaps jump back and forth across the line a few times?) to make sure everyone gets what they need.
We had that moment of balance, and then we dove back into the storm, but I do see a cleaning ahead!
