The evenings are getting cooler over here and we are starting to wake up to dew on the grass each morning, which means the weather will soon turn and our flip flops will be traded for new school shoes and clean socks.
Fall on the Island means that our population decreases by half as all the summer visitors head back to their real life on the mainland, and with our extended summer, due to our schools starting the year behind picket lines, this will mean we can get one final chance to enjoy all our favourite summer moments, without the summer crowds!
Last year our summer was filled with lazy days on the sailboat, long hikes with the kids and visits to the grandparents. This year, being in the new house, we had a whole new list of things to add to our days.
Moving in April 1st meant that we had fabulous weather to explore our new property, and thankfully lived close enough to the lake to go for evening dips and daytime plays at the beach.
Summer to us meant stopping, after being on the go for 2 years. It meant lazy days in the hammock in the field, afternoons surrounded by chickens as they dust bathed in the sunshine.
It mean working on our property with long term goals of a healthy garden, and escaping to our private island when we could squeeze it in.
This summer reminded us that we don’t want to spend our days deep into renovations, and need to find little moments to play with the kids.
And it meant being surrounded by babies hatching. We welcomed 13 new chicks to our family this summer which kept us coo-ing at their cuteness and nurturing our flock.
Our summer was captured in listening to frogs and crickets singing their song, the flip flop tan lines the whole family sported and the steamy taste of freshly picked blackberries.
And however you define your summer, Kinder® wants to help you remember it. Small moments are the building blocks of our memories, and the sights, smells and textures add life to our thoughts. To help remember your summer memories, share your summer smiles with KINDER® in their new “photo-strip” app on Kinder® Canada’sFacebook Page.
And here’s to next year, when we get to do it all over again! Fingers crossed we close our summer 2015 with flip flop tan lines and a lasting appreciation of those warm nights and spontaneous adventures.
