This may come as a surprise, but I am not actually an open book. While I am a great “sharer” about some parts of my life, I do keep other things under wraps.
Until, I think it might be fun to share them. So, here are a few things that you may NOT know about me, even if you have read every single post on this site (or even had a tete a’ tete with me in person)
1. I was a Superdog.
My husband calls this my “geek period” and not in a “rocket science” sort of way. More in a “prancing around in a silver jumpsuit, dancing with my dog” sorta way. And it WAS a little dorky, but it was also totally fun, and I kept those beasties in dog food when our budget was tight.
And don’t ask for pictures. Hubby burned all of those in embarrassment (I mean, what if the KIDS found out?)
2. These are NOT my Ears.
When I was 15 I went under the knife and had my “ears done’ As a young girl I would never wear my hair back and felt very uncomfortable about my “sticky-outey” ears. It was affecting my confidence so I had surgery to correct them.
After that I started wearing a ponytail and never looked back.
3. I am not in Alignment.
During the ear surgery research the Dr.s also noticed that my jaw was off centre. They don’t know how, or why, and my teeth are all aligned (so it must have happened when I was a wee little thing). Their plan to fix it involved breaking the jaw, surgery to shave off parts of it, wiring my jaw for months, then braces and a retainer for life.
Funnily enough I declined and seem to manage quite well in all my crookedness.
4. I have “virgin” hair
Well, almost virgin . . you could say it got to 3rd base… once. I am so low maintenance (and cheap) and rarely invest the time or money into my hair, including “highlights”. So, yes, this means that those silver streaks are REAL baby, and that what you see is what you get with me.
5. I LURVE Historical Fiction
I would read my way through the British Monarchy if I could. Any kind of historical fiction is my version of crack. From Kinds and Queens, to WW1, I love any tale told about our real history of events. I love history but would be bored by the lines of boring text, until I found the texture and feel that a narrative fiction brings into it. That was when my love became an addiction. And trust me, addiction it is! I did spend 4 days in the British Museum and had barely cracked the surface.
(on that note: Don’t ever bring me to a museum unless you plan to stay awhile)
These aren’t life changing facts, but perhaps they are interesting . . . now, why don’t you tell me something about yourself?
