One of my favourite parts of the holidays is searching high and low to find the perfect gift for my family. Popping into special shops, making gifts and adding my special touch, and remembering distant conversations where they expressed a wish, totally unrelated to the holidays.
And the holidays create the perfect setting for wishes to come true. Stories of Santa, wrapped presents filled with surprises and a general feeling of magic in the air.
As my kids sat down to write their lists this year, my son felt it was very important that he add “freezing powers” to his letter. His hope being that if he got these powers he could make ice cold lemonade and frozen popsicles all summer long for his friends.
Great idea, but not very practical really.
But so many wishes ARE PRACTICAL and can COME TRUE, especially when they are made full of hope for our loved ones around us. This year Barbie™ fans can submit their wishes to Barbie.com/mydreams up until December 31st, 2014.
Once they have uploaded their wish to the Barbie my Dreams™ contest, submissions will be sent to the user’s
Barbie my Dreams™, registered email address. If the wish is not for the parents, they can then forward their child’s heartfelt wish to its intended recipient.
After all, the Holiday season is really about kindness, selflessness and being together!
To help you get started, check out this special video from Barbie™ that features girls making their wishes from the heart. Sharing their wishes for their family (and themselves) as Barbie helps to spread the holiday cheer. And please share the video from the Barbie™ YouTube Channel, as with each share, $1 will be donated to Make-A-Wish® Canada* (and that is an easy wish to give!)
*A donation will be made for each click on one of the corresponding social media platform icons, up to a maximum total of $5,000 in donations.
Enter this holiday season knowing that it isn’t what sits under the tree, but the thought behind it. Make a few wishes come true, and think beyond the “needs” to the the “wishes” and see if you can grant a few.
(and PS, Honey, if you are reading this. . . my wish would be sinking my toes into some warm sand, with waves crashing on a tropical beach this year)
