The winter rains began today on the west coast of Canada, and while so many others are building snowmen and gazing at their twinkle lights through the snow, we are cleaning gutters and dodging raindrops.
We still have lights on our bushes, even though the rhododendrons decided to do a winter bloom. And thankfully the grass was just mowed the other week, so it is short and tidy and shows off our holiday decor.
But it is all very, very green, and not very “holiday” like at all.
It’s no big surprise really. I am used to a green Christmas. But I do remember crossing my fingers for the month of December just WISHING it would snow on Christmas Eve. That we would wake up to a white blanket, covering our regular green, and the world would seem magical.
I can see this same dream in my kids. With every “chance of snow” they are wishing hard for heavy flakes. They want the “winter” experience, not long term, but perhaps a little more often than we get it.
They want it white (like we had two weeks ago)
So, I bring it indoors for them. We pump “Let it Snow” as we decorate the tree. We drink hot chocolate by the fire after playing in the rain (yes, that is a thing!) and we watch wintery movies.
Obviously Frozen is high on the list again this year, especially with all the SNOW. In fact, my son asked for freezing powers from Santa in the hopes that with a flick of the wrist he can make popsicles, ice cold lemonade and snow, for sledding!
This year the kids were excited to loosen up their vocals with all the RIGHT words now that Disney has released Frozen in a sing-a-long version.
The sing-a-long version brings Frozen to a whole new level (and is great for our early readers as they can learn and watch at the same time)
A perfect item to slip into the stocking of Frozen loving kids, and a great way to amplify your Frozen experience with a little more fun.
