I am winding up a quick trip to Toronto and suddenly found myself out in Niagara Falls. It was by pure accident, but since I was there, I figured I couldn’t leave without seeing the falls.
They were never something that was ever on my bucket list to check out, and as happens when spontaneous tourism occurs, I hadn’t a clue what to expect.
Now, for this poor westerner, Ontario is COLD right now. My two nights here both had snowfall happening (omg it is almost april) and my little “fingerless mitts” were doing very little to cut the cold. Leaping from 15′ to -7 is a shock to the system.
So my first surprise at seeing the falls was the ICE and SNOW. Crazy deep, reminding me of our “arctic exhibit” at the Vancouver Aquarium (which is about as close to this much COLD as this girl gets) I have a feeling seeing Niagara Falls frozen was pretty spectacular. . . perhaps something that will ruin the falls for me in the future even.
But even though my ears were freezing off, we continued on our lap around the falls! For all you “tourists” the pic above is the American Falls.
This is the Canadian part.
and this.
Obviously much prettier than the American part of the falls (not biased AT ALL)
The falls were breathtaking. Cold. But beautiful.
We enjoyed our moment, we didn’t head out on a boat (they weren’t running cause. . . winter!) and we wandered and soaked up the sunshine and spray!
Check it out for yourself
