Mornings here can be a bit of a blurr with 4 kids, and 3 busses to catch! On weekdays our first ride comes at 730am, and before we send of kid #1, we have 35 chickens, 3 rabbits and 2 dogs to deal with. Even on weekends, the mornings are busy! Chores to be done, activities to get to, and everyone wanting to get up, get fed and go their way.
With so much chaos in the morning, breakfast has become a chore instead of an experience, and when our goal is embracing even the crazy moments, that needs to change.
I find when you want to make changes, it is something the simplest things that have the greatest effect. One morning last week, instead of using our regular cereal, we put a few boxes of Barbara’s Organic Snackimals on the table.
With fun animals on the boxes, and bright images, the kids (all ages, from 5-11) were immediately pulled in.
Coming in three different flavours, Cinnamon Crunch, Vanilla Blast and Chocolate Crisp, you are seeing the same cool animal shapes that Barbara’s made famous in their organic cookies.
Our little dude needed to taste ALL the flavours, and even mixed them up together. The girls added fresh strawberries and milk, and even hubby poured himself a bowl.
But that morning was more than just a healthy start to the day, the kids actually STAYED at the table instead of rushing off.
On each box of Barbara’s Cereal is information on the Earth Rangers program. The kids loved the fun animals on the front of the box, and the cool animals shapes of the cereal, but that was just the start of their exploring. When they turned the box they were swept into the idea of becoming an Animal Ambassador with Earth Rangers.
Within minutes I was setting up free memberships for all 3 kids, and they were telling me about the owl that needed our help!
The great news is, that while the kids were learning and becoming more passionate about the earth and animals, I felt good knowing that a portion of proceeds from every box of Barbara’s Organic Snackimals will go to support the Earth Rangers program.
Buying a delicious cereal is high on the list of priorities, but finding one that is organic, AND provides additional wildlife support, as well as being delicious is even BETTER.
In fact, breakfast became lunch that day, as the kids chatted Earth Rangers. They talked and chatted and our “quick meal” turned into the experience I was hoping for.
