As soon as the weather warms I am cracking open the windows and letting the fresh air in. I want to blow out the winter dust that has accumulated from the fires, and give the rugs a shake. Closets are cleaned, cupboards are tidied, and even the garden is turned over, fresh for the warmer weather.
But having the house clean and ready for spring is great. . . but what about the people?
Our family tends to spend a lot of time working to maintain the house, but we sometimes forget about ourselves, so this spring we are extended our clean . . . all the way!
1. Clean the Pantry
We arent just doing a dust and a clean of the shelves, we are going the extra step and checking the expiry dates on all our food stores and medications. Out with the old, and in the the FRESH this year. And since we live on a farm, and we all know farms are filled with all sorts of little critters, we are giving the stored goods and extra careful once over.
2. Freshen up the Fridge
Cleaning the shelves isn’t always enough to freshen up the fridge! This year we are cleaning the fridge from OUR insides out. We are tossing the old and the unhealthy,and restocking with fresh ingredients that pack a healthier punch! Fresh fruits and veggies, “better for you” condiments and letting go of all those “half packettes” of olives and pickles.
Oh, and don’t forget to replace your arm & hammer baking soda box! It will help to keep your fridge spring clean fresh for months.
3. Scrub of the Winter
The “inside” weather can have an affect on your body, not just your house, so spend sometime giving yourself some extra effort as well. I replace all our toothbrushes with new fun designs. The kids love the Spinbrush™ My Little Pony ™ or Super Mario ™! And we re-stock on dental floss and mouthwash and replenish the soap canisters in the bathroom, to make sure that not only our our teeth clean and healthy, but we have the means to wash our hands, and maintain our health.
This mom also books in a few hours to do “winter hair removal” …. hey, I have to keep warm in this old house!
