We moved into our house new house in the late spring. Flowers in the garden, birds in the trees and kids without need of coats. Ahh the west coast.
When house hunting we were drawn to older character homes, and found our forever home in a beautiful old craftsman with 3 lovely acres waiting for us to put our stamp on them. We puttered and fixed all spring and summer, cleared and built chicken coops and fences. It wasn’t until late fall that I noticed how cool (alright, downright freezing and drafty!) our house really was. I was working from home all day, and I was COLD. With ancient wood floors, and somewhat limited “insulation” the wind didn’t just blow around the door frames, it actually blew THROUGH the house.
To keep warm I tried everything. I started making a fire every morning (how pioneering of me, eh?) and I even got myself a full footed fleece onesie to wear at home.
Hubby put a stop to the daily fires that when he noticed our rapidly depleting stores of firewood, and begged me to please wear something other than fleece, EVEN though I am working from home.
So, I welcomed this gorgeous fellow into my home to help.
The Dyson Hot and Cool fan pumps out the heat and keeps me toasty warm, and in summer I can use it to stay cool. I have my fan set up in my office, and the room is comfortable and warm, and I can use the heat directed feature to channel ALL the warmth at my toes. Instead of having to heat our whole house during the day, I can focus the heat on the one room I am in.
When the kids get home though, I can use the remote feature to have the Dyson Hot and Cool expand to rotate the heat, or fan the heat to provide warmth to a large space. In fact, the warmth is so nice the dogs come and lay in front of it, just like they would in front of the fire.
The best part is, unlike other heaters, the Dyson Hot and Cool fan doesn’t get HOT. The system itself remains temperature controlled so there is no fear of it catching household items on fire. There is even a handy timer shut off on the remote!
It’s been the perfect addition to my home office space, and keeps the hubby happy because he can spend his time puttering with the kids in the yard instead of chopping wood every day to keep my toes thawed out!
You can find the Dyson Hot and Cool fan online, or at stores across the country and while it won’t fit in your stocking, it is one of the most useful items I could imagine under the tree!
