My suitcase is still on the floor of my bedroom, and our table is still filled with the bits and pieces I brought home for the kids. I haven’t yet caught up on my sleep and most mornings I wonder why nobody made me breakfast.
But I am home, from yet another mom2summit, and ready to share what I learned.
But first…. the story.
Last year at Mom2 I was in a flux. When I arrived my whole being was focussed on finding my path. I remember these feelings so clearly, reading last years post allowed me to see the journey I have been on in the past 12 months.
Last year I didn’t know what I actually did for my “job”. I didn’t know what service I provided, or what I was good at. I had tried (and failed) and a huge range of things that I had lost my passion and focus for where I needed to go.
After 4 days at mom2-2015 in Arizona I left with a plan.
I had spent those days surrounded by some of the best leaders, the most inspiring writers and the most committed business owners I have met, and I left knowing I needed to up my game, or get out of it all together.
So I spent the year refining, revising and taking risks. I worked, and hustled and built something that I think is pretty cool. Most importantly though, I learned what I was good at.
So this year I walked into Mom2 and I felt confident in who I was and what I did. I felt no need to prove myself, only to connect. I knew what I could do, and I did it.
And still, I was inspired and encouraged, motivated and challenged, by the others in the room. To be immersed in a group of women (and the odd man) who are WORKING in this industry, not just being, continued to show me that there is a lot farther to go still.
It has reminded me that this is real. And this can be big.
Mom2 continues to my one of my favourite conferences, and as I pay off my Visa bill, I am grateful for every dollar I spent (even the US dollars, ouch) because that is me investing into my business, and it works. I have my ticket for next year, and if you are coming too, I will be the westerner who is melting in the Florida humidity and jet lagged from the trip. But, none of that will matter, they could host Mom2 ANYWHERE and I would go, because it has been one of the biggest business builders I have experienced in my 4 years in the industry!
One year. It started at mom2 2015, and over the process of the year I took it’s challenge and met it.
Imagine what 2017 will look like.
