It has been a busy month. A wonderfully busy month. A month filled with new people, new clients, new ideas and (of course) a new baby goat.
It is a month where school is “winding down” which means social is “winding up”. It is my husbands BUSIEST time of year, and the time that our garden needs extra attention, and I head off on a conference trip.
It means dishes in the sink and a never ending pile of laundry in the spare room, sitting on what we now call the “laundry bed”.
It means squeezing in a pedicure before your flight, and grabbing so many snacks on the go that they become the norm.
It is forgetting your mom’s birthday (even after you reminded yourself the night before) and getting up at 5am every day to make lunches early so you have time to milk the goat.
So why? Why do it?
Why do it when you have the choice not to?
Why spend all this time working, thinking, folding, cleaning, sleeping, snacking and messing up?
Because, you love it.
And specifically, I love it.
I love the working, thinking, folding, cleaning, sleeping, snacking and … well, not the messing up.
I love it because I GET to do it. I GET to work. I GET to think.
I GET to fold, and yes, even having the opportunity to fold laundry is a gift. I get to see my children’s clothing before me, handle it, and stand witness to their growth. I get to see that we can support them and keep the warm with cozy sweaters and warm socks.
I get to do all these things, to have moments with each of the parts of my life that I have created. I get to see them feel them and embrace them for a little bit each day.
I get to wake up every day and do stuff, and that in itself is one heck of a gift.
I get to be busy, and for that I am grateful, and it makes me value each part of my life.
I get to be.
