I covet my sleep. It is my most delicious thing and guarded carefully.
After suffering through years of sleepless nights with babies at my breast, having a full night in my beautiful bed to SLEEP is decedent.
It takes ALOT to make me give it up, or put those beautiful hours at risk, but that is exactly what happened this weekend.
Hubby has been sick – he has a “bug” and is snuffling and snorting and coughing. He is crashing out early, barely able to make it past dinner, so that means it is ME doing the kidlets, and crawling into bed at 10pm.
I usually scan my iPad as I snuggle into the covers. We only have netflix, so there is no channel surfing happening.
But this night, when I opened netflix, I didn’t even STOP to look at the time. . . I just pressed play.
2014 was the year I turned 40. It didn’t rock, and being the big FOUR OH has had its challenges, so when I saw the new Netflix film “This Is 40” I jumped in with both feet.
Perhaps you have seen it already, but I haven’t and it was the exact right thing to keep me up ALL HOURS of the night as my diseased husband snored beside me.
I snickered under the covers, and tried to stifle my laughter. I remember him waking and looking at his watch, flabbergasted at the time and that I, the sleep whore, was STILL awake.
I gave Netflix my next day as well, seeing as I was in recovery from lack of sleep, but it was well worth it to laugh my way through someone else’s 40’s.
The movies on Netflix keep getting better, and better . . which probably means I am going to need to say goodbye to more and more sleep.
and now that “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has launched, I am totally screwed. . . (and did I see OITNB is coming again in the summer?? oh Boy)
But maybe that is what 40 is all about? Losing sleep because of laughter, instead of crying babies? And I suppose one good thing about losing sleep at 40 is that since the kids are all school aged now I guess I can just pop them on the bus and go back to bed?
What are YOUR favourite ways to “lose some sleep” ?
