I haven’t been a very good parent really. I never had that pile of parenting books beside my bedside table, and I could never remember to say all those little changes we were supposed to use.. and not just NO.
And my husband was no better. I actually remember him looking at our 2 year old and after she had misbehaved telling her that he expected more from her.
Probably not the best parenting….
But, we got through it.. slowly. And made mistakes (a lot) but at 6, 9, and 11, I think our kids turned out pretty well. I mean, aside from the fact that our 6 year old still doesn’t really eat anything, or that our 11 year is frequently distracted, and the 9 year old… well she is pretty good most of the time actually.
But, I KNOW we could have done better communicating with them, had it been easier to remember how.
And then my friend released a parenting app that has ALL the phrases and such you need to remember how to talk to your kids. EVEN when they are losing it.
It is just a few bucks on iTunes, and currently holding strong on their leader board of best parenting apps. And way easier to sort through to get to the useful information than those piles of parenting books they told us to get.
