It was a day just like any other. Dragging my feet this morning until that first cup of coffee and hustling kids out the door to the bus.
Lunches, lists and routine.
Except it was anything but and ordinary day.
It was an amazing day.
First of all, driving my little dude to preschool meant driving 5k down a picturesque farm road. We waved to some local sheep munching hay and saw how much a farmers pond had over stretched it’s banks. The sun shone and we sang to the radio.
I pulled into the preschool parking lot easily. No juggling for spaces, there is lots of room for me and the other car. We walked up a forest trail to his little school, a one room school house with a wood fire burning. He scurried in to see his friends and I was “free” for a few hours.
Off for a quick run to try and get into my early 30’s shape before I turn the mighty 40 this spring, and I ended up here.
The edge of the island, gazing at the sunshine. Waves lapping at the shore and me, bursting with amazement.
HOW did this happen? How am I here. In THIS life?
How could I ever be so lucky?
I remember what it used to be like, my life. How my days rolled into each other, how I felt like I was digging in gravel and with each scoop more kept falling into the hole.
And I remember the fear and the worry we had making this change. The costs, both financial and emotional, we had to pay to do this. I remember how uncertain I was.
And I am grateful for this day, and for every day. I am amazed that I am here, and feel so blessed to be able to love the moments I have created in my life.
I feel like hubby and I are crafting something perfect. Perfect for US.
I hope you too are enjoying an amazing day, and if not, I hope you change it somehow.
If you need MORE amazing days, start with this:
1. What do you want. Like REALLY want? No, not stuff. LIFE. What do you want in life. for life. Around your life. Figure out what THAT is and keep it front and centre.
2. Get rid of everything else. Strip it down and create the centre of your universe around what you want. Yes, that might mean ditching the 2nd car, or the house. . . but who cares- it’s not what you want.
3. Figure out where you can get what you want. How, where and what you need to do to make it happen.
Now. . make it happen.
4. continue to remind yourself about what you really want. When you feel pressure from somewhere for something else, move beyond it and keep your eyes on YOUR prize.
No one else’s prize matters. Just yours.
5. One day, maybe a few months or even years down the road, you will wake up and realize that you have had so many amazing days one after another that you suddenly see that your life is amazing, and yes, you DID get what you wanted in the end.
Enjoy your days, your moments and your minutes. They all add up into something more important.
