December 1st the holiday music comes on in our house and while we don’t have our tree up (or decorations out) yet, it is our first dabble into Christmas.
For 25 glorious days I get to be in the Holiday spirit. Come Boxing Day, the music gets switched to pop and the tree and decor are boxed up for yet another year. But, being the budget conscious gal that I am, I am always hesitant to blow a bundle on something that is short lived.
So, to make the most of those few short weeks, I have picked my fave holiday music that has lasted year after year, and won’t explode your budget on something that is so temporary.
Michael Buble Christmas – Love this blend between easy to listen to and “classic” holiday music. Not too kitschy or loud, or depressing (as my hubby thinks so much holiday music is) and with enough songs that you can put it on repeat and not get bored.
Perfect for: curling up by the tree, with the lights on low and a fire crackling in the hearth. Full glass of deep red wine and a plate of truffles by your side.
No December is complete without Christmas with Boney M. An old favourite that has me dancing in front of the iPad, desperate to hit “play” on November 30th. Light, fun and full of catchy rhythm.
Perfect for: trimming the tree with the kids or doing that final tidy up before guests come over. Peppy and full of dance tracks (but without the dance track)
I am a total sucker for the old school holiday tunes. Something that can be playing in the back ground and appeal to young and old. LOVE the compilation of the Best (Jazz) Christmas Songs- EVER. A bit of Bing (Crosby) and a dash of Ella (Fitzgerald) with over 150 tracks there is no need to buy any others (plus it is only $10.99 on iTunes)
I find you don’t need a great long list of holiday music as long as you have the essentials, and personally, while I love to fill the house with holiday tunes in December, I would rather have just a few great albums and then spend my extra pennies on new spring plants for the garden!
Enjoy the holidays while they are here friends!
