I had the chance to visit Chicago this summer, lucky little me! As I sat in the airport I was filled with nervousness. My husband had drilled into my head to never go out at night alone. I was to watch my purse, and my step and I was prepared for the worst.
I was prepared for a rough town, a grungy city, an overwhelming US spot.
What I got was pretty surprising to this little Canadian.
I experienced a city much like Vancouver. Coastal (lake not ocean) and clean. Warm, friendly people, with an AMAZING shopping district. Great tourist spots, and the mind blowing Navy Pier.
I stood in shock for most of my week in Chicago, amazed that I never knew what a fabulous place this was, that I never really gave it the chance to show me.
I loved my stay at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the comfy beds, the great service and delicious nearby restaurants and the AMAZING prices) . With easy cab service when we needed it and walkway access to the Convention centre, we were set for our Blogging conference experience. It was certainly one of the best places to stay in Chicago.
And would I go back?
To Chicago? With my family even?
Absolutely. It is now on “the list”. To bring the kids (and hubby) to check out the aquarium, lake cruises, and city opportunities.
No question… we will be back!
