I will be the first to admit that I have a multitude of faults, but I will also confidently say that vanity is not one of them. In fact, you may even go so far as to say I may not be vain enough.
I am the gal that sits in the salon chair and finds it ridiculous when the stylist wants to show me the BACK of my hair. Why would I care what the back of my head looks like? I will never look at that in my life, so as long as I’m not bald.. lets just roll with it. I pick neutral nail polish, and worry less about my appearance than how I feel and think. Which is good, I think, but only to a point. Having pride in ones appearance isn’t a negative thing, in fact (according to my husband) when I put in a little extra effort, he is quite fond of the results. And much like I love him as he is, I do notice the little things that could use a bit of spit and polish.
While it won’t change my feelings towards him, these small changes are noticeable and cause my gaze to linger just a little longer. Now, by not worrying too much about the little things, they sometimes get bigger.
I was never a braces wearing kid, and after a bad bike accident needed a partial crown and root canal on my front teeth, which over time, has chipped. I have a tooth that doesn’t like to stand up straight, and hangs back from the crowd, usually collecting my morning coffee stains like a blanket to keep him warm.
My teeth aren’t perfect.. although they are healthy. (kind of like me as a whole) but it doesn’t worry me too much. So when we were asked to try the new Crest Pro-Health HD, I had limited expectations on results. It was yet another whitening toothpaste (that wouldn’t work on my crooked tooth, or on my chipped filling). I used it once. As a two step process, the first step, used for one minute of brushing, is an anti-plaque and anti-gingivitis paste which helps improve gum health by treating gingivitis. The second step, used during the second minute of brushing, is a whitening gel.
After that first try, I was 100% focused on the FEELING.
My teeth felt smooth, and reminiscent of spending 45 minutes and $200 at the dentist, although I didn’t have to suffer through the creepy fluoride treatment or polishing. The feeling lasted as well, and hours later when my husband came home I rushed to him and said “YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS”.
His response was “is it gimmicky?”
I said, “just try it”.
He set himself up in the bathroom, bottle 1, and bottle 2 at the ready as I walked him through the process.
Brush for a minute, then spit (Don’t Rinse) and then use the 2nd bottle for a minute of brushing, then rinse.
And then he stopped me.
Because he said “open your mouth”. “Your teeth are whiter” he said. “Your little crooked tooth isn’t stained anymore”.
(I’ll insert here, that I hadn’t actually LOOKED at my teeth after brushing. I was so enamored with the FEEL that it never occurred to me that the whitening would work”.
But it worked. And so he brushed.
And he too spent the evening running his tongue along his teeth, and we both noticed a difference.
And me, without my little stained tooth, felt a little more comfortable smiling, and maybe felt a little sexier as I sidled up to my husband.
No, I may not be vain, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use products that work to fix the small little bits that have worn down over time. Especially when they are noticeable to the person who looks at me more than I look at myself.
Not only does the Crest Pro-Health HD strip away plaque, it also helps to reverse gingivitis, along with whitening your teeth. According to my husband, it has also helped reduce the dreaded “morning breath” he has had to experience beside him in bed for 16 years. Apparently that is fantastic for him. It is now available in stores across Canada, and if you have a little stained tooth, or want a cleaner feeling mouth, I recommend you give it a whirl. Maybe test it out on your husband too, because according to him it is now our tooth product of choice. Click here to LEARN MORE & find some coupons!
