We moved here to start fresh. We wanted something simple, something real and without the distractions of our old life.
We wanted space. Chickens. Time.
Earth Hour has been running for5 years. This year, it’s sixth year will be my first time participating.
We were always too busy. Or too exhausted. By the time 8:30pm came by on the Saturday night we had finally gotten the kids to bed, and hubby and I just wanted to slouch in front of the tv.
This year we will participate. This year it is more than turning of my lights, it is about recognizing and appreciating all the changes I have made in the last year that allow me to appreciate what the turning off my lights really means.
We have reduced our distractions. The television is rarely used. We have space, and chickens, and green food in bountiful quantities. We have slowed down the chaos and spend time talking. We count our pennies and save them for what matters.
This year, spend that hour with your lights of thinking of all the things you want to change in your world, in your life, in your space. By starting to acknowledge what we are missing, we can start to make room for it. Join the other 13 million + people in 152 countries as we all take a moment!
Lights off, Saturday March 23rd, 8:30-9:30pm
