With 40 just around the corner, it has me thinking back to my younger days, and my younger skin.
I remember battling breakouts in my teens, cursing the spots that would show up RIGHT before school picture day (or egads, Grad?) I was a swimming instructor and in the chlorine filled water for hours at a time, and it dried my like a raison.
My skin was itchy, uncomfortable and youthful – oh so youthful! No wrinkles or lines. . . just bumbling acne and a total awkwardness with applying makeup.
In my 20’s I taught fitness, multiple times a day and lived in sweat! I had that glow, and then I had crunchy salt drying to my face, and would spend an hour raising my body temp to BURST and then sit in an air conditioned office, only to do it again 3 hrs later. But I was fit, and thin, and finally had figured out what to do with my hair.
When the babies started coming in my 30’s my face shared it’s disgust with my growing bottom by welcoming pregnancy spots. Big brown blotches over my cheeks announced the arrival of each of my 3 kids. I realized just how much concealer a 30 year old mom needs and mastered the use of my brushes to apply it.
And then the acne returned, a last laugh at my youth as the wrinkles started to appear in full force. Hormonal spots that would show up every month like clockwork, and remind me that I am not “out of the woods” quite yet.
But now I have learned what it’s all about. The wrinkles don’t matter, and even the odd pimple is allowed to appear. What is most important to me is that I feel good in my skin, and my skin feels good on me. I want soft cheeks again, well moisturized and healthy.
My face (and my body) wear my years, and that is just fine by me, but I want to do what I can to make those years look gentle, except for the smile lines, they are welcome to be bold.
So, when I had the chance to try Golden Natural’s Skin care, an all natural, locally produced Skin care product, I said yes.
Natural sounds good to me . . .
It was a 3 step process, with a cream cleanser (which I love… so soft) a toner and a hydrating cream. All three products were gentle, and gentle in scent as well. After hydrating my skin didn’t feel heavy or greasy.
The whole process felt … well, gentle. There was nothing abrasive about the products, nothing extreme in the procedure. My skin felt soothed, and fresh.
And perhaps more youthful?
And the best part? Golden Naturals is a local company owned by Marinella Nicolosi who developed her own carcinogen-free skincare line Pristine, made with only pure, natural and organic ingredients. Marinella is a Chartered Herbalist, Face Specialist Esthetician, speaker, educator, researcher, formulator in the field of holistic noninvasive natural skin care and owner/founder at Golden Naturals Skin Care.
What have been your years of skin? Maybe it’s time we all grow up in our skin and try something a little more gentle?
