For over 3 years now we have been living this “do-over” part of our life. Three years ago we had nothing, no house, no jobs, no friends and (seriously) no prospects. We would wake up, go for a walk, and stare at our emails, begging a message to come in.
Fast forward, and now we are begging our emails to go down (just kidding favourite clients)
We are busy.
But are we successful?
Well, I don’t know. I guess it all depends on how you measure success.
Do you measure success in the amount of dollars you can spend, or the ones you have saved up? Do you measure it in speaking opportunities, pageviews, or in positive feedback and comments.
Is success being busy? Or being fulfilled? Is it have SO MUCH WORK that you don’t have to worry about the mortgage ever again, and “whoopee, lets go on vacation”. Is it having time at soccer practices, and making cookies for your kids after school?
Success is such an entirely PERSONAL concept, that to measure the success of another person, or to compare YOURSELF to them, is a ridiculous concept.
My goals are set for me, and my success (or lack of it) is the outcome of achieving those goals.
So, instead of attempting to measure others against your own rule stick, stop for a moment and define what YOUR success would be to YOU?
What is your end goal? What would make you happy/proud/content?
For me. . . it has always, and will always be ‘time’
Do I have the time to spend with my family, and the ability to afford it?
So, after three years, have I found success? Yes, I think so. I really do.
