K.I.S.S
It’s something we’re taught very early on in school. Keep It Simple Stupid. So when did I start complicating things?
Work, marriage, kids, mortgages, taxes, noise, stuff. Life just started to get really cloudy with all the noise blocking out the sweet sounds of simplicity. Ten years later and I finally had to put my hands over my ears and yell, “ENOUGH!”
Over the past year we’ve worked very hard to adapt a slower and simpler life. Systematically removing all the “extra” stuff that was weighing us down, we are finally feeling free(er).
I’m finding that more and more people (like Julie Nowel) are discovering the importance of going back to the K.I.S.S philosophy of living. Slowing life down has really shown me what I’ve been missing. I used to just hear them arguing or whining and diffuse and dismiss the situation. Now I listen to my kids when they talk, not just to me but to each other. I used to just watch them to make sure they weren’t going to break something or get hurt. Now I see them moving and playing and how they are growing and maturing. I enjoy life so much more now that I’m not just trying to “make it” thru each day but rather “live” each day.
By no means is our journey to a K.I.S.S lifestyle complete but just by eliminating some of the noise, I can hear the sweet sounds coming back.
Life is good.
About Tiffany
I started MyDirt as a way to rediscover who I am after a decade of being a stay at home mom to 4 daughters (including twins). Writing about kids, meals, karaoke and the hilarity and tragedy of everyday life. I am married to the most wonderful supportive husband who gives me more than enough stuff to write about. Poor guy. I’m a tattoo loving, list making, type A, health obsessed, cancer surviving, photo taking, social media addicted mom on a crazy journey. This is My Dirt.
