I spend a lot of time working on staying physically active, but what I’ve really wanted to focus on this year is my mental acuity. I really want to nurture my mind. I have a very creative job and I love that, but we can’t work all the time. That’s a fact. There have to be other ways to keep the mind active. One of my biggest fears is losing that capacity as I age. I’ve been watching my friends and my parents age and it’s been on my mind to do what is necessary to ensure I have quality of life. I want to stay sharp and I’m doing everything I can to make that happen. These are some of the things I’m doing to achieve my brain goals:
Books. Like that line in Princess Bride, “When I was a kid, TV was called books.” I love to lose myself in a book. I read blogs from so many clever women and I enjoy immersing myself in the written word on the printed page (and in the soothing waters of the hot tub, ideally at the same time.)
Memory Games. As a mom with kids in sports, I often play the “Who Needs To Be Where Today” game – it’s definitely a challenge for my memory. That said, there are also some fun ones on my phone that don’t involve lugging anyone to soccer practice.
Conversation. Actively engaging in conversation is so good for the brain. Raising active kids, there are so many opportunities for great conversations. I just have to make the time to make it happen. My husband is pretty great to chat with too (plus he has a great accent!)
Panax Ginseng tincture – Panax Ginseng is a most valuable herb in times of physical or mental stress. I’m a busy working mom, so I know a thing or two about stress! It helps banish mental fatigue and keeps your brain running smoothly, which is handy because I could use a boost.
Ginkgo Biloba capsules – Ginkgo opens up the pathways to your mind. It increases circulation to the brain and keeps it well nourished to help enhance memory and concentration. Better blood flow helps even those cold fingers and toes warm up! I’m always in socks but now they can be more fashion than practicality.
I love that Orange Naturals has all sorts of products to help me reach my goals. They fit organically with the things I’m already doing to try to make sure my brain is as healthy as the rest of me. How do you keep your mind active?
