I spend a lot of my time working on balancing the things in my life. A mixture of work and play, sweet and sour, wine and water. A little bit of good for you, mixed with a touch of “necessary” and a smidgen of “tastes divine” all balanced out with sweating in the garden, and lounging on the couch.
Balance in all things, appreciation of the different opportunities, respect for every moment.
This means lunches are packed with fruit, veggies AND a treat, and snack time on the farm is a mixture of the same.
Except sometimes we are able to make a treat sweet & healthy, all in one go.
Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bites are a fun way to get creative with the kids in the kitchen. These no bake treats are easy to make, and by offering up a few add-ins, everyone in the family can end up with a sweet treat that they will love.
Using the 3 base ingredients, mix them together in a bowl, prepped and ready for the “extra”s
- 1 cup oat large flaked rolled oats
- ½ cup Kraft Smooth Peanut Butter
- ¼ cup honey
My 11 year old was ALL over helping out with these, especially since they were no bake and she has lost more than a few brownie batches to the oven! (ps. burned brownies are NOT delicious, even when your daughter makes them)
Step one is adding in 1cup of large oat flakes to a mixing bowl
Then add a ½ cup of Kraft Smooth Peanut Butter (or crunchy, or whatever style of peanut butter you LOVE) to the oats.
My Daughter added in an additional step here… she says it is a required step and shall not be missed.
She calls it “lick spoon”
I call it “Peanut Butter Lovers Break”
Then thoroughly wash the spoon BEFORE you add in 1/4cup of honey. We used a beautiful local honey made from wildflowers and the taste was Ah-May-Zing.
After the honey, mix the three ingredients until fully blended. Make sure you get to the bottom of the bowl and coat ALL the oats!
And now, the fun begins.
I wanted to see what the kids were pulled to (call it a test) so with their suggestions we set out a few plates of “additional ingredients” for our Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bites. A huge variety of locally or personal preserved fruits from the garden, as well as some “treats” like marshmallows, peanuts, and gummy bears. (Check here for MORE great ideas of what to include in your bites)
All three kids were drawn to the dried fruits, a regular favourite in our house, and added in handfuls of dried blueberries, strawberries, banana’s and goji berries.
In fact, they ate SO many of the strawberries, we needed to dry some more. Luckily, it takes only a few hours in our dehydrator and is a great snack for the kids in their lunches OR to pop into the Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bites! I mean, who doesn’t like Peanut Butter and Strawberry… that flavour combination brings me right back to my youth.
The kids added in their ingredients, handfuls of dried fruit and nuts, and my daughter set to work mixing.
After the ingredients were combined, she rolled each Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bite into a small ball, set it on a plate and put it in the refrigerator to chill for about an hour.
Suggested serving size is 2 to 3 of the bites represented in the above photo
Honestly, I can’t believe they lasted that long. . . especially since the kids were loitering around the fridge “checking on them”
The best part of this was that they were SO easy to make, my daughter made TWO more batches, one with mini peanut butter cups (OMG) and salted peanuts and another stuffed full of gummy bears and marshmallows, because sometimes indulgence is exactly what you need.

In fact, hubby LOVED the mini peanut butter cups bites SO much, the kids hardly had a chance to try them. As a British immigrant to Canada he says he needs to take EVERY opportunity to eat peanut butter here in Canada since he was denied (his word, not mine) it as a child in England.
We pulled them out of the fridge for an afternoon “snack” and the kids dove in. Favourites were called, and Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bites were pulled off the snack tray and were a big HIT!
And as with all things, they added balance to our life. The Kraft Peanut Butter Snack Bites were a mixture of sweet, and salty, crunchy and soft. They were brought out over the weekend as the family worked in the garden, and in the evening as we snuggled up and watched a movie.

Getting creative in the kitchen doesn’t just end in great food, it creates amazing moments as well. Remember, balance in all things, make chores fun, made food healthy and delicious. Find the quality in every moment. . . especially when it ends with peanut butter.
