Sunday mornings at our house are pretty lazy. I usually come across the kids splayed on the couches, watching tv, or playing games. We move at a slow pace on Sunday’s, and that is okay.
But after awhile my “must DO something” urge comes over me, and trying to pry them out of these positions is dangerous.
There is one sure way to get them moving though, and unfortunately it isn’t “lets clean the chicken coop”
Our kids have always loved baking in the kitchen with me. Not only does baking have amazingly delicious results, but the actual process of baking together is both educational and impactful.
I still remember the smell of coming home to chocolate chip cookies, or the scent of a roast chicken dinner as if wafted to my room. I remember helping my mom in the kitchen, whether it was a homemade recipe, or not. The experience of baking with your kids will create memories and skills that will last forever.
We love these videos from Robin Hood, and how they recognize that getting in the kitchen with your kids is MORE that just creating delicious cakes and treats. It is creating relationships.
