We have GRAND plans for our garden this spring and summer. GRAND.
Which means it MUST be ready in time for planting.
Which also means, we MUST build it.
We have been busy for the last few weeks working on a section of our property, pulling stumps, picking rocks, building retaining walls and turning soil. We have a years worth of chicken and rabbit “compost” to add to the beds when they are finished to ensure a healthy harvest.
But hauling rocks, and pulling stumps all day is HARD work. Hard on the back, the arms and the legs. And since spring came early here on the west coast, we are still in winter hibernation mode, the only heavy lifting done in the past few months was the wine bottle to the glass.
So at the end of each day, hubby and I shower off the dirt and sweat. Feed the little people, light the fires and finally SIT.
Okay, we don’t sit. We collapse.
We collapse, and we turn on netflix.
Snuggled together, we would scan the options trying to find something we BOTH love.
Something NOT romantic (for him)
Something NOT war (for me)
And thankfully, delivered JUST for us this month (I am sure of that!) Austin Powers is back Baby.
Mike Myers playing Austin Powers was “our generation’s” hero. I remember when hubby and I first met attending Powers parties, rocking our shagadelic duds, and drawling “Oh, Behavvvveee” over and over. He was the perfect blend of humour, adventure and (perhaps) a wee bit of real life romance.
And so hubby and I have been thanking the Netflix Gods for delivering Austin Powers to us in our time of need. These nights when we are too tired to scan the pages, and just need a light and fun flick to keep us entertained for the 60 30 15 minutes before we start dozing off in bed from exhaustion.
Austin delivers. Every. Single. Time.
And if you know anything about Austin “Danger” Powers, you will know that is true.
