We are out of here in a few weeks. Being Type A’s (and also Aries, who are great at starting things and terrible at finishing) we began our packing early. Now, as time ticks down, I know we are making progress, it is just hard to see it.
We have done the loads to the storage unit – what with downsizing our interior space, many things need to go, or store. We have purged, and craigslisted many of our items with the rule of “if we don’t love it, it goes” as well if it was purchased to fit “this” space, it may not fit the next space, so it goes.
As well, as a mom of three I am well practiced in hand me downs and keeping the “good” clothing items for use later. Bags of kid clothes tucked here and there that definitely weren’t going to be moved with us.
As happens, when you need a solution, one often appears. Along comes Brynn, a spontaneous connection at a soccer camp led me to a coffee meeting with the founder of Beary Cute Boutique – kids consignment.
I have done consignment before and was always put off by having to prep and sort and clean all the products. If I am ready to get rid of something, I just want it gone – today!
Beary Cute does all the pick up of products, as well as all the prep and photos. She sells the items (via her online store) and has an incredibly affordable shipping rate (5$!!!) She only takes excellent condition, name brand items, and has a current special on where consigners get 60% of the profit.
So easy. And well worth sorting through all those bags and boxes for the “really, really good stuff” before I donate the rest.
So, with the clothing purged, and the garage finally empty (did you know there is a place that will buy your metal discards? Pans, screws, everything! ) we just need to start going through the kitchen cupboards. Oh, and the bathrooms. Crap… and the office. The office is going to be a project!
