Sometimes I look at my kids and can’t quite believe how old they suddenly have become. I mean, weren’t they just crawling around? Didn’t I just unload a dishwasher full of sippy cups? What happened? All of a sudden I’ve turned around and now I see a teenager who has taken over my kitchen as her own and churns out a steady supply of delicious meals, cookies and treats. I now have 10 year old who knows more about animal husbandry than I do, and could easily run our little farm without us. My baby, the last and littlest, is the one reading a book all by himself, without begging me to read to him. They’ve all just sort of taken off, each growing into remarkable people who frequently astound me with their patience, compassion and generosity. It feels good but I also yearn to squeeze them back into the tiny bodies that once fit tight against mine. I find myself looking for opportunities to spend snuggle time with them, and the best way to do that is to suggest a movie or series on Netflix that everyone will like. No small task I can assure you, but this month Netflix has heard my call!
This month, Netflix has launched Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. This show is a perfect blend of themes and topics for all three of my kids, with enough spooky to keep the oldest interested and enough action and silliness for the younger two. It affords me the luxury of sharing the fuzziest blanket and couch with my not so little babies, and just breathing in the smell of them when they aren’t looking. Ya, I still do that, don’t lie you know you do too 😉
Starring the amazing Neil Patrick Harris, this Netflix Original pulls in all the entertainment of the original movie, and packages it in perfectly sized episodes.
It doesn’t matter what age they are, I will always see them as my babies and every opportunity I can get to cuddle, hold, and smell them I will happily take.
Have you checked out Lemony Snicket yet with your brood?
