It is that time of year again. The week before Mother’s Day where my husband, EVERY DAY, asks me “How I want this whole thing to play out”
We aren’t big CELEBRATION people. We tend to go mellow on the birthdays, and will often forget that a day “off” is a stat holiday and there for a reason.
So when Hubby tosses the responsibility of “Mother’s Day” on my plate, there to design as I wish, I am kind of at a loss. I mean, what does a gal REALLY want for Mother’s Day?
I know I don’t want to be away from my family. I don’t need a spa day, or a girl’s day, or a shopping day. I am a mother BECAUSE of my kids, and there is no better way to recognize that than by being with them.
I don’t need STUFF. We have enough stuff. I have books that still need to be read, a jewelry box overflowing (and often forgotten in my haste to get out the door) and everything else I need. I don’t want more.
I don’t want to be forgotten. Frequently Hubby will build something for me for Mother’s Day or my birthday – alas this means I am left to the side to “Just enjoy myself” while he spends hours the whole entire day, BUILDING. And of course, with him building I am left to make all the meals, and do all the other stuff. . . and kinda lonely all alone.
So, what do I want? I want to be loved. I want the kids to be happy, and to love their life on Mother’s Day. I put a lot of time, effort and energy into creating them (not to mention multiple pairs of size 6 jeans never to be worn again) and a little teeny tiny bit of appreciation would go a long way.
I want a simple day, surrounded by the “fruit of my loins” (or is that only for guys) and a chance to connect and be thankful for the opportunity of being a mother.
Of course, if they wanted to make it easy, and be allowed to spend the day with their nose in a book, or playing on their own, they could just send me a Vello Message!
No matter your age, or if you are near or far from your siblings, you can send mom a message using the VELLO app. Everyone can add their thoughts to the message, or (if you really want to make mom cry) you can snap a moment from each day to combine into one mega mom message of appreciation. Each clip you record is stitched together into one message, ready to share with your recipient (or THE WORLD)
And for everyone who downloads the VELLO app in May, you have a chance to win a weekly 25$ gift card (of your choice)
Check it out, and send mom a message that will melt her heart, because that is all moms really need on Mother’s Day.
