In our family fall and back to school time doesn’t just mean getting school supplies and waking up on time every morning, there are dozens of new tasks to get to before winter sets in on the farm. I have always been someone who loves physical labour, doing a job and feeling tired after was satisfying, giving me a sense of accomplishment and usefulness. When my hubby and I decided to turn our backs on the city life and strike off on our own path we did it together, both of us building and clearing side by side. I always pulled my weight so to speak, and could put in a day of splitting wood and burning brush alongside my hubby. This year I fear things may change slightly, and I’m none too pleased about it.
There is a lot of work involved in caring for goats I’ve learned, much of it being bending down repeatedly and squatting. My body has always been fit, and I hope it still is, but now I have aches and pains where I never had them before. Milking a goat is HARD! Really Hard! They sure made it look easy in the movies, but squatting down and then repeatedly squeezing leaves my back burning and my hands feeling like jello. I literally can’t hold anything, and no way can I use a pen or pencil for a good while after. Bring out the RUB·A535™ Extra Strength Heating Cream to ease the pain and get my hands back to working condition. It soaks in quickly and works just as fast.
Making sure the chickens have a warm, safe coop and pen to keep them cozy over winter often means repairing the coop and building new additions. Lugging two by fours and hammering nails, sanding rough edges and shoveling dirt can make the day go by quickly but all those jobs are starting to take their toll on my arms and back. I just don’t seem to be able to swing the hammer with quite the same gusto as in the past, and I am sure not shoveling like I used to. When I go in after a day of working in the yard all I want is a long soak in the tub, and a massage for my aching muscles. Hubby sympathizes, telling me it must be hard to be in my 40s. Ya, we’ll see how he feels when he hits 40 next year! Who am I kidding, he’s just stronger and, let’s face it, way more fit than me. Oh well, as long as he massages my back with the Rub-A535 it’s all good! That cream works miracles on my back, warming and soothing as he kneads the knots out.
I will do my best to keep up with him this fall, helping to make our feathered and hooved friends safe and snug, and prepping the garden for next spring. I know I will be sore and achy but Rub-A535 has my back. Literally!
