All summer long I find myself wishing we had various items for the kids. There were those summer days we dreamed for a king size hammock to swing under the trees, and those summer nights where we wished and wished we had a telescope.
So, this year I actually KEPT a list of smart gift ideas, and I am moving through it to help me with my holiday shopping. I want to ensure the gifts under our tree are USEFUL and FUN, and that they will last all year and add value to our life.
Which is why this Microscope and Telescope are going to be wrapped up with pretty bows and there to inspire my kids to greatness!
I know periscope is all the rage these days, but I remember a better kind of scoping I used to do as a kid.My first microscope was my probably my Dad’s dream that I would follow his lead and end up studying sciences. It came with glass slides and I would collect interesting bits to scope out, and while it expanded my mind, and kept me occupied for many moments of play, it didn’t change my course of life.
Our kids already tried out an Educational Insights microscope, and after perfecting that one, it is time to upgrade! I could say it inspired me to look at things from a different point of view, but that could be kind of stretching it.
Now, for MY kids, it probably WILL inspire them to become Drs and veterinarians, but they are already a lot smarter than I was! This 98-piece set includes all the tools kids need to create their own specimen slides and view them at up to 900x magnification. There is also a camera mount to photograph findings and a projection/drawing device to display images for tracing or group viewing!
A telescope is just one of those things that every family should have, especially when you live in the countryside and your sky is a canvas. We would enjoy many summer nights out gazing at the stars, and I can’t wait until the kids check out the Education Insights Geo Safari Vega 600 Telescope!
With magnifications from 30x to 150x and rack and pinion focusing, stargazers and naturalists are rewarded with bright, clear images—perfect for scoping out birds and animals, as well as the moon, planets, and constellations.I just hope they don’t start looking in peoples windows across the straight!
The most important thing about these gifts is being able to have items under their tree that inspire ideas, and have purpose! Play is great, but smart play is even better!
