We are fixers, the hubby and I. If something is broken, we fix it.
Quickly.
If the stove is broken, we fix it or replace it.
If our life is broken, anywhere, we do the same.
But sometimes things can’t be fixed.
We are in a situation right now where something isn’t quite working for us, but we can’t change it. We have to sit here, looking at the broken piece of our life, knowing one day it WILL be fixed, but not, quite yet.
And somedays, this is really, really hard. Somedays it makes us angry. Somedays we get really sad. More than once we have stomped around full of bitterness towards the broken thing. Other days we just succumb to the fact that the broken thing is here, and it is sticking around and we get all depressed sitting in the same life as the broken thing.
But mostly, we set our sites on the day the broken part IS fixed.
Because it will be one day, this we know.
And so the ups and downs continue, and it is exhausting and consuming reminding ourselves that when we CAN fix things we DO fix things, and that we are not a failure because we CAN’T fix this thing.
And then we put our energy into fixing the things we can change today.
