We are FINALLY finished with spring break! It’s so funny because each year the kids and I long for this break from school and then, of course, in the midst of it, I can’t wait for them to go back. It’s not because I don’t want them around, I do! I just can’t always take the time off to do special things with them for the whole two weeks they are hanging around. My parents help out and this year took all three kids skiing, and there is always tons for them to do around the farm. Inevitably though, there are times during the day when they just want to laze about and watch a movie or favorite show.
When the kids went back to school I noticed something I hadn’t been aware of previously: my Netflix account seemed to have been taken over by three young people with viewing preferences wildly different than my own. My entire profile was geared to their viewing history, not mine, so finding MY shows had become time consuming. Luckily I twigged to the new system Netflix has, so I’ll never have this problem again!
Now Netflix is helping you to tidy up with a new thumb rating system specifically designed to make it easier and faster to discover shows and movies that you’ll love. A thumbs up means you’ll receive more recommendations similar to what you like; a thumbs down will keep that show or movie off your lists. Spring cleaning after the spring break has never been so easy! I also created a new profile for the kids, so they can rate their shows and get reccomendations based on their own likes and not mine, meaning we will each spend less time scrolling through shows that aren’t ours and more time enjoying ones we each want to watch.
I may not love spring cleaning but this was one task that was easy to get done. Setting up personalized profiles and getting us all familiar with the thumbs up/down rating system was quick and simple, just the way I like all my cleaning jobs!
