I love that saying “Start as you mean to go on” especially for New Years Day. I love the clean slate, and the re-setting of standards, goals and expectations. I love how the year is spread freshly in front of us, a blank notebook waiting to be filled with our stories.
Each year I set an “intention” for the coming 12 months. A word that sums up my focus for everything in my life as the days unfold. One word to keep me on track and in line. A reminder of what I wanted to accomplish.
I am still working on it (I never rush the intention) and hope to share my plan with you tomorrow. Today was spent pondering, and peacefully enjoying the quiet and the little moments.
It was stuffing my pockets with warm eggs from the chicken coop (great for hand warmers) It was hiking the trails with the boys and the beasts, breathing fresh, cold west coast air. It was sleeping in until 9am (thank you little dude) and it is curling up on the couch, with a bowl of leftovers and a great old movie, being totally fine with my current state of relaxation.
Start as you mean to go on. . . I sure hope I did.
