My years as a mother are starting to be defined by my holiday memories. I remember our first Easter as a parent when we went to my parents home to celebrate with the family. We had a delicious and chubby 3 month old and I felt that we were coming out of a long winter and into a fresh new stage of life.
As we continued on, with more holidays and more babies, our traditions slowly started to define themselves. A creative basket filled with goodies and an easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning.
This year, a new home, and with older kids, it is time to change things up again.
The home we are in is HUGE, over 3000 sq feet, on 3 floors. And as a heritage home it is a wild assortment of rooms, and pathways. When we first looked at the house the kids immediately thought it would be great for hide and seek.
At dinner the other night we were chatting about setting some limitations for the Easter bunny, figuring if he tried to hide eggs EVERYWHERE he would never get to all the other houses on the island. As well, we are on almost 3 acres, so doing an outside “egg hunt” would also be pretty time consuming!
So, this is the “list” the kids have, rules for the bunny, so to speak.
1. Please only hide eggs on the main floor of the house. No eggs should be hidden upstairs or in the basement
2. Please hide eggs on the side patio, fenced in area only. No need to spread them throughout the forest
3. Please be aware of our morning sun. If it is a sunny day, the eggs will melt before we can find them.
They also added a “PS” that if they Easter bunny had a few plastic eggs, they thought it would be neat to have some hidden in the chicken coop (but please don’t scare the chickens)
I am thinking these Kinder® treats will go along when when it comes to our egg hunt! And how awesome that there is such a variety of choices, and sizes!
Easter is one of my favourite times of year. The plants are blooming and the garden is filled with life. We have daffodils to spread around the house to bring colour in and force winter out. It is a time of potential, or birth and of growth.
And we love that Kinder® is not only making easter sweeter with their treats, but also with their continued support of the Children’s Miracle Network. This year Kinder® is donating 12 baskets of goodies to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as well as another $25,000 to help support this non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.
And pop by the Kinder® Facebook page today and enter to WIN an amazing Kinder® basket filled with goodies that will add something special to your Easter experience! They will be giving away a basket April 10th and 12th to a lucky winner!
And the best part of all? We “planted” a few real eggs under our broody hen, and our fingers are crossed for a few REAL easter chicks this year. How magical an easter would THAT be? Real baby chicks and real fuzzy bunnies to spend a sunny spring day with?
Enjoy your magical easter, and start making memories that will last!
