i’m sick.
cough,cough, wimper wimper. And it’s spring break and the kids are all around and hubby is working (yay, but boo)
And I’m sick. I feel like poop.
My appetite has been gone all day (pity party perhaps) so for dinner I forced myself to make something that would nourish my soul.
Yup, some ugly food. This is not Pinterest perfect food, or something you really want to serve your friends, but it sure does make you feel warm and cozy and fed enough to fight a bug.
So, here, today, I share with you my “go to” ugly food. It is not “healthy” really, but nor is it complete junk. And it tastes good. And it made me feel better. And, in case you want to make some ugly food as well – I will share my easy split pea soup recipe.
Split Pea – Ugly soup – with ham
Easiest soup to make in the world – well, if you have a big ham waiting to be cut up . . . that’s the caveat!
Take dry split peas. Soak em – for an hour, or more
Then wash them and put them in chicken (or veggie) stock and simmer them – for a long time.
Once they turn to mush (and make sure you keep adding liquids-water or stock, and keep stirring them) season them and add a buncha cut up ham. I just use salt, pepper and some mild curry powder.
