Life is busy around here, which means that all those millions of things in my head NEED to be written down and shared with the hubby to ensure they get done.
That probably sounds like a great thing, but sometimes something gets lost in translation.
Now, he is amazing at doing HIS things, it is just when he needs to do MY things that he falls short.
With Valentine’s Day this week, it was added to HIS list to “get the kids Valentine’s” to share at school. He was off island, hitting the big box stores, so this should have been a relatively EASY job to do.
He proudly showed me his choices yesterday since we needed them out for the kids to sign their little names to.
He had purchased 2 packages of “sticker Valentine’s” for our daughters grade 3 class and our son’s kindy class.
Wait, that didn’t come out right. A total of 2 packages of “20 each” sticker valentines.
So, 40 Valentines, 20 of each “style” (princess & superhero) for 2 full elementary classes.
Mom goes into PANIC mode. THERE AREN’T ENOUGH!!!!!
Dad says “I don’t know why I even bother to try”
Mom feels immense guilt. . .
Then Dad pulls out the “extra” bag of stuff he forgot. A mixed bag of valentine themed pencils, sharpeners and some strange gooey heart slime things (don’t even ask)
Mom springs into action!
Mom get’s out the boring white paper and a box of crayons.
Together Mom and Dad cut hearts, and when the kids come home they free-for all and create Valentines for their classmates. Somehow there is enough.
Dad smirks.
Then dad shows mom the “other stuff” that he got, without even having it on the list.
Maybe, just maybe, even without my list and directions, he manages just fine on his own.
