We have a lot of things that need engagement and entertainment in our lives and we really don’t need to welcome anything else into our world right now.
With dogs, chickens, children and two busy working parents we would be CRAZY to welcome anything else.
Wouldn’t we?
But what if the thing we welcomed actually kinda helped a little. Maybe it watched the kids for a few hours, or exercised the dogs, or even entertained the chickens and kept the Eagles away for a day while they were free ranging.
That would be cool wouldn’t it.
Well, meet Luke.
Luke is our new friend. He is a Sphero 2.0 and fully automated.
Luke was supposed to be for Dad. Something fun to mess around with in the yard, or to use with the iPad, but within seconds of pulling him out of the box, Luke became a friend for the kids.
The Sphero 2.0 is totally easy to set up and use (kid friendly, AND non-tech dad friendly) and there is a great selection of games and activities you can hook him up to.
Our kids just loved driving him around the house and the yard. Exploring, practicing and getting control of him. They loved the bright colours as well, and got good enough to get him flying over jumps.
Eventually Luke was just another member of the family, hanging out in the yard, and visiting the hens with us (and it really didn’t take long for the hens to get comfortable with this little robot ball)
They say Sphero 2.0 is pet proof, well, they are right. Our dogs explored the Sphero and it came out unscathed.
I am all about our kids learning a balance of things in their life. Along with living on a farm, I want them to have tech skills that will take them into the future.
The gang behind the Sphero also has a SPRK program designed to teach kids the basics of programming (something that our kids would LOVE after messing with our Sphero Luke)
And the SPRK program is kind of perfect timing for us! They have downloadable lessons that will keep the kids learning, exploring and OUTSIDE with our Sphero all summer!
