I had someone ask me the other day if I was a procrastinator.
I responded very quickly and loudly, that I was most definitely NOT. In fact, as I told her, I prefer to get things done WAY before they are required, to ensure I have time to do all the other last minute things that come up.
I’m to sure if I have been like this for my entire life, or if I am just becoming more aware of it, but I do know that by doing things NOW, I have frequently been in a position to accept additional opportunities, exciting ones, life changing ones, because I had the time.
It frees up time as well. Crossing things off my list today means that I have spent less time worry about it, or moving things around, or adjusting my schedule. It means I am not waiting on answers to questions (because I asked them days ago) and it means I am ALWAYS caught up.
And so I do other things. Without the stress, and overwhelm of all the things, I can focus on small sparks of interest, follow the path of ideas, and create new things. By being one step ahead I have time to put together a plan for others to make happen.
And it gives me time to think.
I always believed that THINKING is as much a requirement of the entrepreneur as DOING. By just being, and thinking, you can find the quickest way through the tangle of ideas, or find that one tiny nugget of opportunity in a mess of distraction.
So, my question to you.. what are you waiting for? There are a million excuses for why you can’t do this now… but I suggest you ignore them and just get to work. Get things done, before they are do. Be prepared and be ready for the last minute items that will come in (because they always do) and most of all…. get everything done so you have time to do the things that no one has thought of yet.
So, seriously… what are you waiting for?
