Okay, maybe not awesome, but it certainly got me started.
Last year I was doing another year in digital media. Ezine’s and events and connecting and inspiring. I had a “little blog” but in all honesty never really saw the power it could have.
It was a place for me to work through niggley thoughts, and battle my demons. No one really read it (well, some people did, but not many)
I remember one month breaking into the 1000 pageview category.
For one month. I really wasn’t a big deal, even though at the time I was giddy!
But someone liked what I was writing and nominated me for the Vancouver Mom Top Blogger award. I got shortlisted and then made it into the Top 30. I went to a cool party, got to meet other amazing bloggers and came home with a sweet swag bag filled with love (and piles of delish granola)
I left the party, my life changed. I kept blogging.
My blogging kept filling my soul (which should always be purpose #1) and then it started to fill other things as well.
It was monetized. It helped build another business for me (when you are in it, you see where it can be bettered, right?) and it gave me a place to connect with others who have the same values. It fills my days, and it enriches my life.
When I stood up there with the other nominees, I didn’t feel like a blogger. I had only really scratched the surface of what blogging is. Now, “knee deep” in the industry (neck deep some days) I get it.
So, even if you don’t feel ready to even add your name to the “Vancouver Mom Top Blogger” list. . . you are more ready than I was.
And who knows, maybe it WILL change your life, even just a little!
I hope to see you there at the event, either as a nominee or an attendee. Standing in a room with these amazing women will always fill your soul and get your brain ticking!
